An armed man robbed the Bellagio resort on the Las Vegas strip yesterday, and made off with at least $1.5 million in casino chips Police say the thief entered the casino at 3:50 a.m. He then pulled a gun, robbed a craps table, stashed the gambling chips in his backpack and fled the scene on a motorcycle. According to AFP, no shots were fired during the incident and no injuries were reported.
Video surveillance shows the bandit wearing a jumpsuit and a motorcycle helmet so identifying him will be difficult. However, authorities describe him as white, about 5-feet-10-inches tall and about 220 pounds. The chips he stole, which range in value from $100 to $25,000, are generally not interchangeable at other casinos.
Police also suspect the same man stole several thousand dollars from a cashier at the Las Vegas Suncoast Hotel & Casino poker room on Dec. 9, The Las Vegas Sun reported. Anyone with information about the cases is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
