Each rider was provided with a pre-programmed GPS used to follow the course. The GPS Redmond was using eventually failed and he became lost a few times, losing ground to Jarvis.
Jarvis makes his way down the final technical section while enjoying about a 20-minute lead over Redmond.
Jarvis, a former World-class trials riders, excelled in the technical sections.
Without a working GPS, Redmond searches for the trail...
...to his disbelief he is told by spectators that he is heading in the wrong direction...
...frustrated, Redmond realizes he inadvertently missed a large section - a rocky downhill - of the course...
...and must turn around and go back and find the trail...
...so he heads back around the mountain to the top...
...about 10 minutes later, Redmond re-appears heading down the mountain in the right direction...
...while still holding down second place.
