Studies have shown that if you are driving at constant speed above 35 mph running the A/C could be more economical than having the windows down due to the wind resistance open windows cause. Below 35 mph you are better off with the windows down. I used to check my gas mileage every single tank and found very little difference with or without A/C. In everything I've owned.
