I haven't ridden anything newer, but that 2016 kx450 I rode last week was very impressive.

Right in front of the three plugs on the main frame and neck (right side). This way you can loop the wire through the clutch cable holder, over the top of radiator hose, and down along the coil/plug wire. If this place hosted photos, I’ve got plenty of examples. But then again, if your phone took text photos I could send them.

A better question would be, “how do you effectively secure the wire to the boot?” Obviously, with zip ties- the oem standard for all things fastened. Me? I use the noose method, as in tie the wire into a noose, slip the boot in and pull. Every self respectin white boy otta no how to tie a noose up..
Wire needs to be wrapped 5 time around the wire for the meter to be read. A noose is a single wrap, won’t work.
