Hi my name is ian new to the site. I have 83 xr350r with timing issues I been trying to get tdc the magneto won't stay at tdc and continues to spin any help would be great or what I'm doing wrong

When you're trying to align the timing marks, the engine doesn't want to rest at the marks?

Sometimes you have to rock it through the marks and watch the other areas to see if they also cross their respective marks at about the same time. It just has to be close, you're not setting engine ignition timing, just that the cam is timed to the crank.

If it's in, take your spark plug out. The compression can make it difficult to align your marks.
