hey guys I recently got a suzuki drz 125 and every time I start it it starts redlining in neutral and goes very fast in gear without any throttle. I checked the cabling and it looks fine so I don’t know what to do. Any ideas?

Howdy!
Sometimes the throttle slide can get installed backwards or crooked giving a high idle.
Make sure it's sitting completely on the throttle adjustment screw.

Throttle cable routing or age/condition can cause it to hang up and not allow the slide to completely close.
The same symptoms would occur. Sometimes turning the bars can cause the cable to pull the slide up slightly.
Both of these are common issues following maintenance on the carburetor.

If the throttle slide is closing completely and you're sure the cable or slide is not the culprit, the carb may need mixture tuning.
If so, What is the idle mixture screw set to?

The carb is tuned fine, this only happened after I let someone else use it and they revved it very high in first gear and ran into the bushes.
