I just realized the timeline, the x ray pic was actually before the cold December pic i posted, THAT was first ride after the clavs healed lol. Hasn’t crashed hard since then and he’s 21 now so hopefully that’s the end of it ..but probably not. When moto is in your blood it’s there for good.First show him this..

Yeah, it’s worth it. But still not fun when you have to have your mom wiping your butt when your 19 years old. Yes, two years after the knee. It’s a rough sport.

Yes, I had an 86 CR500 and was racing a BITD race in the Nevada area before stabilizers were a thing. Had it held almost wide open in a sandwash and got into a tank slapper so hard, it broke one of the steering stops off the triple without going down..

Chopped the throttle on my RZ350 when tooling down the highway at Mach 1. Sold it 3 days later. Biggest mistake of my life.... well there’s that whole first marriage thing too but I miss that RZ.

Never had time to really get into it on a pro level , just a few pro am mx , harescrambles ......
Hell im still trying to sandbag beginner class and getting sandbagged by B riders. “Pro” to me, means you make a living and that’s tough to do no matter how fast you are. My buddy races local pro class off-road and Mx and he’s fast. Stupid fun to hang around, once he wheelie/jumped through a bonfire wish I had a pic of that. Like we ride on the same track but we only ride “together” when he’s passing me lol. I let him borrow one of my bikes once, and I will never do that again.

He gets some free stuff from sponsors, and does local ride clinics, but still has to have a real job, as do most privateers. To me thats a hobby. One he’s real fkn good at but still.

I borrowed a bike from a guy once ... from that day on , never lent a bike to anybody ...... Taught a lesson , learned a lesson ....... I did help him fix it .......
Define professional?
Here is some sage advice:
I ran the circuit for mx as a kid. Poor, 1 bike, a cardboard box for a toolbox and it also doubled as a parts bin. I rode since I was 4, wanted to race since I was 4.5 yrs old. I raced up and down the east coast at tracks that don’t even exist anymore. These days a kid who wants to race pro starts at around 5 and travels coast to coast. Not my cup of tea. If your kid can win every local race, then go to the next state and win every race there then move forward by all means towards a national amateur title and then towards a pro career.
