Hiya, we have a 2011 JR80 we’re hoping to sell just trying to get it running right before we do.
My sons been working on it and cleaned everything but he can’t seem to get the idle right.
He adjusts the idle and it seems fine but when he starts the bike again it’s really high.

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Howdy!
Sometimes the throttle slide can get installed backwards or crooked giving a high idle.
Make sure it's sitting completely on the throttle adjustment screw.

Throttle cable routing or age/condition can cause it to hang up and not allow the slide to completely close.
The same symptoms would occur. Sometimes turning the bars can cause the cable to pull the slide up slightly.
Both of these are common issues following maintenance on the carburetor.

If the throttle slide is closing completely and you're sure the cable or slide is not the culprit, the carb may need mixture tuning.
If so, What is the idle mixture screw set to?

Thanks big Dan, I’ll pass this on to my son and let you know how he goes. To me it smells rich or like it’s flooding. I used to tinker with cars but bikes no clue. Thankyou so much
