MY other hobby....of sorts

Between observers? Never saw any...We actually had a deputy next to us at the spot where those action shots were taken and he said aside from a few D.I.P.'s it was for the most part pretty calm!

i guess im just way to use to the huge gatherings in Ocotillo Wells and Glamis... always some kinda fight somewhere with all the drunks around.

I was just there as a spectator and from what I saw of the ewvent and people it all seemed pretty calm. Everyone I interacted with were pleasant and willing to share their Potable Beverages!! And the story about people just pulling over and calling it a camp is 100% accurate. There had been some rain before the event so the large lakebeds were a little iffy. I ended up just about 50' from the main road leading in. Not the place I choose for a "weekend away in the desert" but a perfect spot for easy in/out access. We also had a couple quads so we could take the ice chest and chairs out to the best viewing areas.

The waterfalls in the fist pic are apparently quite the draw in the evenings after folks have a few. Quite the spectator sport for sure.

Yes it was. Here is apic of the Staging Area. Simply amazing how many people there were crammed into this area.

Holy Geebers!! Very cool pics guys. I want that EZ-UP in the middle of this pic! :smirk:

very cool:thumb: I really wanna get into the offroad racing scene....my dream right now is to do a ranger conversion by taking the 5.0 out of our mustang and putting it into the ranger :smirk:

No need to do that...unless you really want to. I know the lure of the v8 rumble is nice however, I'd have to think it'd put you in an entirely different group...possibly bigger trucks (w/v8's). The local races have groups for v6's that are pretty competitive. etc! :thumb:

Go online to check out when their races are and go watch 1 unless you've already done that...becareful not to stand too close to the track like those other people that weren't so lucky!

Hmm I'll look into that then...maybe just look into a older F-150 then.(I can spend hours lookin at RDC's classifieds :goofy: ) I think I'd first wanna get something to drive in the dez for fun, take to poker runs etc.

Yeah I'm gonna try to find some races and actual try to meet up with some friends that I know who's family races...... I've made a few friends and connections with kids I go and have gone to school with who have just regular buggy's (still not totally sure of how to know what class) but one of my friends and his family are Patten Racing, another one of my friends mom is the driver of the Damzl 132 car (I really wanna check out the Powder Puff Race in Oct), also since I'm a rep of a energy company I have semi-connections to Letner Racing cuz we are a sponsor for them.

Right now I'm just focusing on school mostly and being in SAE and getting some work time in, and learning more skills, and just saving my money and cleaning out the garage so I have everything organized and ready for when I do start

some of my very first tube notching 90º (with a cut-off tool, and hand grinder)

I just love this kinda stuff and if I can buckle down (while parents are offering to pay for it :smirk: ) and in the end be smart and make money from my dream job why not :noidea:
