The local municipal airport in Corona (Ca) used to have an anual Rods n' Wings event... with vendors of all kinds, they had "planes of fame" on the tarmac to see and watch fly... they had a Bear Cat and Hell Cat... I can't remember which is was that had the straight wings but lengthened wheel "struts"??? due to the oversized prop. I think this was the predessor to the Corsair "gullwing" which allowed for a normal length "strut"... so the nose wouldn't be sop damn high... This is what we were told if I remember right.
