RM250 rm250 starting issues

Was the piston sized to the cylinder correctly, and was your ring end gap correct? Did you ever split the cases? If so, did you make sure the trans shiftyed through all gears without binding. If the cheese doodle before you put a rod in it, is there proper clearance in the thrust bearing? It sounds like Mihylo & Smoke are heading in the right direction. It sure sounds heat related, and when it warms up, your tolerances shrink to the point of seizure. I'm still not sure if it could be motor, or transmission side. Sorry BK, but all this crap will make you a better wrench in the long run.:noidea:
 
Bought cylinder and piston used.... Mic'd piston.. Stock bore... Ordered new piston.. Wasnt going to run a used piston...

Never split the cases... Just a clutch cover and case

Trans shifted through all gears .. As i rode it for 20 to 30 mins prior to it partially seizing .... And its been ran 30 to 50 mins... Just idleing on the stand prior to riding today.. (This is the same topend that i ran a few months back and has 2 or 3 hours on) (Has 195psi as of today.. after seizure)

I really think it came from the motor side.....

I know my jetting is not set 100% ... But it does run good now... I pulled the plug..checked it over...tad dark....I didnt dissemble the engine but i ran through the gears and they all seem tight...

After i checked over everything i rode it about 5 miles on a paved road.. Pretty easy... With no issue... On the way back... I let it rip... No issues ... No abnormal noises.. I have no clue....

I dont know where i should ride as is....Or tear it down ....(Im in this for the long haul no matter not... Not selling it)

This bike makes me feel like a full-on retard.....

Did you check your ring end gap before installation?

But wouldnt the compression be killed after that... Its at 195.... Thats like..beyond perfect?

No beacuse the ring tightens up and then cools and shrinks within spec.
the bike starts and you move on.

Also broke the kick start lever.... I think its time to call it a year..Been a good riding season:cry:...Time to wrench on it all winter...Start to see a pattern
 
After i checked the it over house yesterday i took it for a short easy ride on the pavement...And then i shut it off on the side of the road just to check over to see if it was leaking anything...Then when i tried to start it kicked it one time and it snapped Broke out around the joint..

Its taken a beating the last year :smirk: ... Most people go through tires... I go through kick starters... From all that porch riding... I bet CDA goes through kick starters too :thinking:
