IMO, Snap-on ratchets are the best, hands down. All their tools are actually.
I've got a Snappy 1/8 and a 3/8, and a Matco 1/2. The Matco sucks in comparison, not much better than a Craftsman.

Actually in my opinion matco is on par with snap on, cornwell Mac and craftsman are all on the same level with each other, only difference is some of Matco's stuff is lower priced than snap on, I can make a living with snap on or matco, but not with any of the others.

I think that many of Matco's tools other than ratchet's are awesome. But that 1/2" ratchet I got sucks compared to my Snappy. It just feels loose, whereas my Snappy's feel nice and tight, even after years of use and abuse. It rarely gets used because of it. I dont own any Mac tools, but I have used them in the past and they are good too. Just never had a Mac truck where I worked.

You are fortunate to not have purchased any of macs tools, right now they are basically rebadged Stanley tools, those guys will sell me tools then disapear, I've got tons of broken Mac tools that I now have no one to warranty them. At this point I will never buy that brand again because the dealers in this town are here today and gone like a fart in the wind tommorow.

Yeah that sucks. Maybe that's why I never came across too many Mac truck guys.
I used to be in the habit of buying my Snap-On tools off eBay, then warranty them on the truck. I usually saved around 50% off truck price.
I can imagine you have problems finding a Mac guy in your area. I can imagine you have problems finding most things up there! Must be a bit like living on an island?
I bet you got a ton of Artic-Cat, Skidoo, and Polaris dealers though.

I've lived in the state for 40 years now, so what we have or don't have is normal to me, I'm looking forward to the day I can move out of anchorage and back to a smaller populated area in the state, hopefully closer to my favorite riding areas.
