What did you do to your bike today?

Worked on the project bike my brother and I picked to have as a spare/buddy bike. It's a 2010 Yamaha WR250R dual sport :ride: Always wanted one as a backup/buddy bike since they have great track records (manual says first valve check at 26,000 miles!). I got it from a buddy for practically nothing since it was stolen from him, recovered by police a couple days later...but stripped of various parts. Insurance said it was only worth $500 and wanted to total it out. He said screw em and wanted to replace the parts, which never happened and after a while of it sitting untouched he just wanted it out of his hair. Engine, frame and wheels were all in tact and not touched which was the important part to me. But items such as plastics, gas cap, miscellaneous body hardware, saddle bag frame, lighting assembly, wiring harness, mirrors, ECU, ignition, battery, front brake reservoir parts, tool kit/compartment etc all gone. (DAMN thief) Not to mention the rest of the parts that needing replacement. So yes, the bike did need a lot of body work and a whole lot of TLC but thats okay with me as I can do that on my own and the bike was gotten for a trade of old stuff I had in my room lol Luckly, I had a ton of various parts laying around from oils, sprockets, chain, grips, a spare battery from my KTM, tubes, tires etc. Even had some yamaha decals! lol So the only money that had to be invested was in the electronics (harness, ECU, all of the tail light/license plate assembly) and fenders, everything else was "in stock" in my shed from a few years of refusing to throw away junk :smirk: (See I knew it would come in handy one day!)

Today, I slapped on new plastics, tail light/license plate assembly, brake reservoir parts, and filled in all the missing body hardware. Later this week, I hope to transfer title and get new license plate, swap out tires/tubes, sprocket, chain, grips, oil, filters and install new ECU (got one cheap on Ebay). Then only thing left to do is locate a used wiring harness for the rear plate assembly and repair ignition. But all in all, the bike currently looks quite presentable with the new parts installed. Will post a pic when it's complete! I wish I would of taken a picture of it before I did work to it, but it was an eye sore to look at:lol: . Should look like this (except for a stock exhaust) in near future :thumb:

Took valve cover of Shortshift's RMZ to check clearance. Three spec'd out perfect. One intake valve was way to tight. Couldn't even get a filler gauge under it. Took the bucket off and found it had a 1.35 so ordered 5 shims from RMATV. 1.20 to a 1.325.

Did some more work on the WR. Put on new tires and new HD tubes on both ends. Bought a couple quarts of oil and a new filter for later on this week. The front brake was also extremely stiff (I couldn't even get the pads to release after they closed with the front wheel off) and the fluid window showed the level kind of on the high side, so I bled it a little and now it seems fine. It's coming together one piece at a time :ride:

Just embrace the lil Zook 4 poke and pick up a full shim kit. You'll thank me later.
Nah, I'll dump this POS after it gets back together. I like simplicity. Plus once I told Shortshift what it's gonna cost to go through this head getting the seats recut, new valves etc He said (I need to get rid of this damn thing).

Went to AAA and swapped over title. Got new license plate and tags on the spot, had no idea it was that fast. Also ordered the rest of the harness connectors. Hopefully this thing will be up and running by this weekend, would be quickest project I've done lol

My brother and I finished most of the WR. Changed oil, filters, rest of the missing little parts, and most importantly installed the new ECU and soldered and connected the missing wiring harnesses/connectors for the lighting assemblies. I forgot to plug in my spare battery onto a tender so it had no juice. I threw in the Shorai from my bike and cranked over the engine for the first time in a long time. The shorai cranked it to life in less than a second  Still got some work to do (ignition, gearing change once I figure out how low I want to gear it, maybe new triple clamps, some new grips etc) But as of now, it's ready to ride. :ride:
