What do you think of this bike for sale?

The one with the cylinder in a box? For how much?
I offered him up to $150 but I think he feels insulted, and wont return my texts now. Those thing book out at $450 trade-in value.

YZ guy turned down my offer for 250. It books at $685.

I still have yet to make an offer for the Magna. I would love a Magna again. They book at $1150.

I used to assume that too, but it seems to be very common around here, especially with the older bikes. I can't believe that all the ones without titles are stolen, but I would run the numbers at the DMV beforehand.

I've decided to stay away from the 500-600's, I already have one that I'm working on and it's probably too much bike for me.
If I had things my way I would find a 250-350 dirtbike for me, a 100-110ish dirtbike for the kid, and a streetbike project. Also, a decent 400 street-legal enduro (Suzuki DRZ?) would be welcome too.

Edit: Here are the results from my latest search;

True, but a "friend" that "moved away" and priced to move

Pfft I dont worry much about insulting people with low ball offers. I say no thanks and keep my shit. Happens To me all the time. Got a 450 from a guy asking 3k and I offered 2k. Wasn't really looking to deal, I was just playing around. He said no thanks and that was that.
Month later he texts me back and says hey man I'm moving and this thing has to go, still want it for 2k? Done :)
Put 20 hrs on it and sold it for $2,900 HEeh heh

I dont either. It's the nature of selling something, especially on Craigslist.
The XR100 I'm picking up tomorrow he was asking 550, I started at 300 I think, and he took 400. The guy with the other XR100 in pieces in a box thinks his is worth 250 because thats what he paid for it. If I were to show him the one I'm buying tomorrow for 400 he might change his tune, because it's considerably nicer, newer, it's all in one piece, and it runs.
But eff'em. His loss because I probably would have given him 150 for it.
I bet he calls me in a month too. And I'll probably buy it then too for my original starting price of 125.
But after tomorrow morning I'm gonna have 5 bikes in the garage and running out of room. If I dont stop buying bikes I'll be giving Big Dan a run for his money :thumb:

We all have about 9-10 bikes. You just need to catch up. Except for Ossa. He has about 83 bikes....he's nuts..... or happy.

For me it all depends on how the buyer offers the lowball. If you do like I do, and just say "considering everything I am well willing to go 000 for it". if they do the knock everything approach like they think they are being screwed I typically break in before they make the offer and tell them I just don't think we can "get together" and suggest they try somewhere else.

At that price, I would buy it for the wheels/electrical alone... -BIG DAN:thumb:
I gave him $100.00 for it, but it's a rat. It might get parted out, we'll see what happens when I put a battery to it and crank it.
The XR100 on the other hand runs great, just needs a carb rebuild and is soaking in the Chem-dip right now.

Edit - I put the battery charger to the Magna and (surprisingly) it cranks and sounds like it should. Gonna add some gas and fire tomorrow.
Is there an appropriate place to make a new thread for the Magna here?
I know this is a dirt-bike forum but I really respect and value the opinions and experience of all of you here and wouldn't want to have to go elsewhere for info because I know y'all could get me and this bike where it needs to be, whether it be a sweet restoration or the scrap heap...

I'm going to tear into it today and see what it needs, make an assessment. I'll post something later.
I'm not looking forward to messing with these carbs though.
I need to find a manual somewhere too, this thing is a work of art. It's hard to believe they could engineer something like this back in 1985 without the CAD programs we have today.

Like the Sabre, easy access was not possible with the engine design. You won't have to often, as they went about as heavy as they could on the float frames. With a good fuel filter and some use of the right additives on a regular basis you can keep it running well. If you are like me it will take half a lifetime to put on 20,000 miles. I look at the 82 Sabre, and the antidive forks and and the digital dash of the day and think about how much ahead in some respects those bikes are.

I might have to go into business restoring and selling bikes...
I even have a buddy who is an ex-bike shop owner from CO that has floated the idea of opening a shop with me.
If BigDan can do it...

And check out this;
1993 Honda xr80r - $400

I just bought an awesome clean titled 97 XR100 for $400, way better than this one.
I'm awaiting a reply as to the status of the title.
I could low-ball him at...?
