So tonight I came out to the garage and grabbed my magnet hoping to find that the bent handlebars are made of aluminum. They are! I am familiar with the process of annealing aluminum as I do it at work when I'm making braces like these.
So I took a level pic of the bike and handlebars and was able to determine where the bend was and just about how much. Here's the pic I used with level lines.
So I took the bars off then bike, put them in the vise and got them nice and hot in the area I wanted to bend. Pulled out my trusty pipe wrench and went to town. I had to do two bends. It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn close. Feels natural and hard to tell the difference. Here's a pic after the correction has been made.
The new bars come Monday but I'm hoping to get out to the track with my son on Saturday.
