one thing i am seeing is it is trendy to hate on the new generation and im pretty sure every generation is going to think that their generation was more awesome. the typical "these kids these days" thing.
the FB jokes about how awesome 70's and 80's kids were cause we didnt have to wear helmets and it was ok to drink from the hose and be gone all day without a tracking device in your pocket. cause its true and there is a lot of laws now that tie us parents hands on things these days BUT.... its our own faults. those kids that grew up are the ones helping those laws go through, those kids that grew up are now the parents who will not let the kid drink from a hose or would freak out if couldnt just pick up a phone and call thier kid. I admit im guilty about some of these things as well..... when i was my sons age i would be running all around the apartments i live in all day with just a check in here and there, had to be home when the street lights are on. my wife would freak the fuck out if i just let my son run the neighborhood all day without us. I have to admit cause its never happened i would prolly be nervous as well.

It's a different day and age...... "back in the day" there weren't as many KOOKS out there PLUS we weren't aware of some of the things that may not be good for you however I STILL drink out of the hose, when I'm working outside and I need a drink and the hose is right there, heck yeah... I wonder if these same bleeding heart people that HAVE to drink bottled water have dogs yet give them water out of the hose???? makes you wonder doesn't it. :foul:

controll bro.

i know people can say that im :tinfoil: but this shit is the begining of some really fucked up lifes for Americans if it keeps going this way. Of course they dont want citizens to have weapons cause then you cant truly control them.
What's one of the first things that the great dictators did......:tinfoil:

I'd venture to say that technology is to blame for a lot of this. For example the bolded text above wasn't possible back in the 70's (cell phones).

Its not ok to drink out of the neighbors hose?
no they all tell me it is no longer acceptable :foul:

 I remember when I was still in my run around the neighborhood days all of my friends drank out of water hoses except me because I thought it was guhross  But I was able to go out and about with little worry from my parents.

I agree with that to an extent...Think about how much better our crime analysis has gotten. I don't believe that there were any less freaks back in the day then there was here.

I think the problem is that any one of us can go online and find our local crime statistics. Seeing with your own two eyes where registered sex offenders live, how many homicides, break ins.. That can make a parent worry about their kids.

I agree.
The agricultural community has been testing for Salmonella and E. Coli in our foods for many years.
The technology in searching out these contaminants has come leaps and bounds. To the point where they are finding salmonella and eColi in EVERYTHING. So now, they are deciding what amount of that is actually harmful because, let's face it, it's EVERYWHERE.

So, there were bad people out there in the same numbers back when my parents were growing up, yet there was not the same 'panic' about it. Call it 'Ignorance is Bliss.' -BIG DAN

Exactly, a guy back in the 70's who would flash soem one was considered a goofball, now he's considered a sex offender... that's what I meant by more kooks. OK,maybe there were the same number (which I doubt) they weren't labeled as such therefore skewing the stats.
