What did you do to your bike today?

They make money, invoice is a bull shit number they pull out of, (if they only bought one from the manufacture) however, if you buy 30, you get a discount. You did sales before. I feel I leveled the field a little.

That's why I posted what I did... if they showed you the actual invoice which most will not then my "comment" makes sense... but if they just tell you what they paid, how would you know, they can throw out whatever number like you said. and yes, return/loyal customers DO get golden treatment.

Good for her... :thumb:

Yah, we went to a different dealer and it was only 500 under the "invoice" price they showed us for Costco, I knew the number when I showed up at T of O. Tony shows me the same number on his dealer invoice sheet. Said I'll give you 800 off, I broke out my red marker and said, "no deal" 2,000 off, he came back with 1,200 I said we can do better, and said ok, 1,600, and he came back with 1,400 so we settled the arm wrestle. They always make money. Internet Costco boy wouldn't budge off the 500 so we left.

When you say invoice you're not meaning the MSRP right? if dealers actually say (and if they do) price it less than invoice then it's costing them money to sell a car...

As for the MSRP, I see that advertised all the time and that number is jacked up.., wiggle-room!

Hung the tail light on the new rear fender. Had no time for anything else. Got home late after negotiating a new car deal for my #2. I hate how long it takes to buy a fricken car from a dealer. But she did get a new corolla s premium with all the bells and whistles.
I haven't done it this way for 25 years. The way to go is to decide what car with what options and use a car broker to do all the work for you. This is the ONLY way to go.:thumb:

MSRP is not the same as dealer invoice. MSRP is what the manufacturer thinks it should be. Dealer invoice is supposedly what the dealer paid for it. There is much more that goes into it also, such as dealer hold-back.

I know that.. did this for a living for a while... (3 years I'll never get back!!)

As for the dealer showing the customer an actual Invoice... RARELY done... We'd done it (used cars,. privately owned dealership) to show our honesty to the leary customer... NOBODY wants to "show their hand" but sometimes to "make that one deal" it is done. We showed the actual folder for the car that had the actual price paid for it and any costs incurred due to service, repair etc..... totalling what OUR cost was then the mark up to "MARKET (retail) PRICE"...

As for a broker... I did that too with used cars... Customer told me exactly what they wanted and what they would pay for it and off I went shopping the auctions.

No MSRP is on the addendum, dealer invoice it what they paid the manufacturer for "one" car. If a dealer orders more than one the manufacturer gives a price break. At least that's what I remember from 30+ years ago. So yes, they showed me the stock number and VIN to the car we wanted and the price from one dealer to the next was the same.

Hung the front and rear fender on the YZ, tidied up the electrical added the battery and I have electrical DS kit working. Tonight I will be putting on the brake light switches and wiring that up. Friday should be the put it all back together day. And then I'll add the photos to my YZ thread because it dominates any CR500af.. :smirk:
