What did you do to your bike today?

A50E2A46-E930-45EB-BB2A-8E9EA92C006D.jpeg Made it run :thumb:
After a failed kick over on Sunday I pulled the little qr apart and the air filter turned to dust in my hands:thumbsdown: The carb was full of gloopy fuel as suspected and the air box bonding at the boot has given up:thumbsdown:, flat Oring on the mani gasket yet after just a external/ internal gut of the carb the little thing (nearly as old as me) crackled into life :thumb:

Going through my garage, deciding what to keep and what to give away or toss. 4 sets of kyb's that don't have bikes need to leave! So much first gen xr 500. Gazillion things. Anyone need a cagiva 125 motor?

You are the only person I ever heard of actually owning anything cagiva.. :hail:

Used to race with some guys back in the 80's that were factory cagiva riders. 125s

Those were some brave dudes. I’ve heard horror stories from people when I was a kid about European parts. It used to take 6weeks to get special order jap parts here on the EC and 2 weeks for basic oem parts.

Not sure about that, but they were factory dude, so they had a truck full of parts and mechanics keeping the bikes dialed in. They were fast and would win the 125cc class.

Ever run across a pirate named Doug Longwell? Ron Turner won lots of Night races at Ascot on them. Spawned the rumor that it only worked in the dark.
Ron Turner is a name i have heard before. Can't say i know him. I was a desert guy, so AMA District 37, National Hare and Hounds, BITD and SCORE with some Big 6 thrown in. This is where I knew the Cagiva guys. Bryan Folks, Dwayne Summers and John Rudder where the main guys.

Was John Rudder related to Dwight Rudder? Longwell was a Fl racer who made some Nationals. Rode cagiva. Got up here fat and out of shape for a summer. His dad was here. He was fast for a few mins. I understand he had a stroke last April. Dist 37 always had some fast company. Lots and lots of it. I still hear from Chuck Miller or his dad.
