IMG_2309.JPG IMG_2307.JPG My Jeep decided to eat a screw so I had to patch it...and by patch it I mean I got as far as taking the valve core out before my brother told me I was too slow and took over :smirk:

Oh and then I came home and stared wrenching on my dad's golf cart. This is the second time we have broken the left axle. If any of you can figure out why I won't give you a cookie because it's blatantly obvious.

I hear the HD diesel Titan is a real POS.. Now I know why Toyota didn't follow through with the Tundra. However, now that they have a rep on the Tacoma, they made them cheap and are paying for it in warranty. Sure glad I have the 11 before they got cheap.

I melted the head down on my car Thursday night. It was a first for me. I have never warped a head before.
When we put a straight-edge on it the gap looked really big, but it turned out to only be .009".
In the process of tearing it down I found that my exhaust manifold has a crack in it.

Anybody have any experience welding cast iron from 1994?
I have a mig welder, an oxy/acetylene set-up, and some brazing rods at my disposal.

I had a cracked exhaust mani on an old 76 Hilux. I took it off and brought it down to Welding Werx and had my buddy Oli weld it up. 20 bucks, but I have no idea what he used to close the gap.

what motor? if its a domestic v8 (ford 302, chevy 350) I guarantee you can find a new/used head on craigslist for cheaper than any machine shop will fix the head for.

It's a Toyota. I was planning on doing it myself. I'm a pretty decent mig welder, have some arc experience too.
There's plenty of videos online but I figured I would ask here before I tried anything.

Arc weld with nickel rod. Take a torch to it first to preheat, then do it up with the over priced nickel. Never had any luck with brazing exhaust manifolds.
