250 The 1999 YZ250

Yardwork? You mean raking little grooves in the sand?
I have rocks, not sand. They call it Xeriscaping.
I chose to drink beer and play my guitar. Getting pretty good again too. The kiddo just picked it up too now, so he's making me do some woodshedding. Cant be a slouch you know...

Looking forward to it! And over jumping everything once I get the KXF 250 going, which should be tommorow when I get the new ignition coil.
I feel like I'm so far behind this riding season, building 2 bikes up, and running into snags along the way.
I guess thats the price I pay for being a broke AF single dad with a mortgage and not able to buy a new machine.
Whatever, I still intend on winning with whatever I show up with...not gonna let the age of a bike keep me from kicking ass :-)

Fired up the ol' YZ last night. She sounds good, just like she's supposed to. No more ticking noise.

Then I saw the water-pump leaking :banghead:.

You didn't replace the seals?
Rookie!!!
Better get a bearing also, and before you order all that, make sure you don't need the shaft.

Right.
I think they sell the bearings seal and impeller kit.
I'm pretty sure I did this already, but it did sit in storage for a year or better. So that leads me to another question - do you guys run straight antifreeze, or do you run a water mixture? Are the shafts stainless steel?

I run prestone’s premixed 50/50 for aluminum radiators. I think most of them are stainless.

I might be getting lucky here. Took a closer look, and the leak wasn't coming from the weep hole, was coming from up the gasket.
Put the 8mm socket to the bolts and found the bottom one was loose.
I could use some good luck.

The drain bolt was loose? :smirk:
Heres to luck... New seals do not leak after sitting for a month. Ive had seals 3 years old not leak upon starting a bike.

Yep, drain bolt was loose. Must have forgotten to tighten it when I took the jug off.
And I'm happy to report that I took both bikes to the track today and they both ran flawlessly. I love Yamaha's. Now that Kawasaki is another story...
Also, I forgot how fast that 250 was! I haven't been on a 2T for a couple years now and I must have looked like a 4 year old out there. Was like learning how to ride all over again. That thing rips fosho!
