250 The 1999 YZ250

Usually I find the most wear is just under where the rings end their northern journey and just after where they head back "south". I always check them at the bottom figuring that is going to be the tightest point. They don't travel that far, but it lets you know your minimum gap.

You said. :smirk:

I know, juvenile at best.:picard:
Happy SX A-2 day.

The 16mm I was talking about was for the cr donated pwk you mention which is btw NOT standard on 2001 cr250's. Honda last sent a keihin in 2000. Where did your original actually shut off fuel flow at? (assuming without a lengthy explanation you are familiar with how to test actual shutoff.)

Actually the carb is actually not from a CR, it came off of a 2001 YZ250. Later version, power jet, and TPS which of course is not needed for the 99. The short answer is yes I know how to check fuel shutoff height, but I thankfully i didn't need to because my suspicions were about the original carb were correct. I set the new carb up exactly like the old one, bolted it on, and it runs like a champ.

Yes I did replace the needle on the old carb, but the seat is not replaceable and had a gouge, so the fuel simply wouldn't shut off. It may be a tad bit lean off the bottom now which I'll correct, but for the most part it is running the way it's supposed to. So I'm totally stoked.[/QUOTE]

Good deal sounds like you know your way around. I probably would have tried to resurface the seat but that’s just me I like that kind of thing. I wonder how that brass got a gouge in it? Either way glad you got er going:thumb:

Sorry, I thought you knew where the carburetor came from.

Plumbers are at least good for resurfacing brass seats!!

Whats up peeps?
Remember this thing?
I decided to rip into it since I sold the WR and dont have a running bike to ride.

Any idea what this little piece might be from?
It's not magnetic. It doesn't appear to be from the piston, or the PV.

$200 that’s it? Palmer you should charge more

I have paypal, just use my email and send as much money as you don't need.

The 200, is what that damn thing costs, but I have found used for 180 with all the linkage as well. I have three complete top ends w/PV and matching piston all ready installed to stick on any case 99-18. I think they are all 5UP 04 up jugs.

I was gonna resurrect the ol' 250 today.
Was...
Got the power valve shown above, and got the cylinder back from replate, with new piston. Started to assemble it all only to find that when they re-welded the cylinder, they left just a little bit of extra material around each side of the power valve hole, enough to keep it from going all the way in, and also allowing it to bind up.
They were awesome to deal with though. She had a shipping tag to my inbox in under 5 minutes, and I packaged at all back up (with new PV), and it was at the UPS store in under 30 minutes.

Since the KX needs radiators, I guess I'll do the fork seals on it.
Anything to keep from doing yardwork.

I guess I could go drink beer and play my guitar...
