What did you do to your bike today?

Not even sure who the maker is. Diameter didn't fit the stock muffler or my PC slip on. Got creative and chopped off the stock header flange and RTV'd it to the Ti. Well see how it holds up to the heat if it gets gooey I'll come up with something else. Weight difference is amazing. Of
Course it's nice to drop a pound, but I bought it cause i thought it looks cool. ..and its titanium :cool:

Today was the day!
It's not my weekend with the kiddo and I had a water pump and carb parts to install on the WR400. It's only supposed to get up to 102 tomorrow, but the real kicker is that our lows are gonna get down to under 80, and the track opens at 6am. I've been Jonesing to get back.
So I dropped the bambino off at his moms at 8:30 then proceeded to spend 12 hours in the shop, at over 100 degrees. You know I want something when I do that.

First thing I did was install the carb, tank, seat, plastic, and grips on the new2me DRZ 110, and got it out of the way.
Then I got to work on the WR.
I got my new carb parts kit for it and proceeded to install them. The moron who had it apart before me didn't want to spend 25 bucks on a new float bowl o-ring (cant blame him for that) so he decided to RTV the shit of it the one he had. In doing he so he plugged up the passages that go to the accelerator pump diaphragm. So I spent an hour or so just cleaning RTV out of those little passages. I'm hoping this will cure the "WR Bog" that these things are known for. The old diaphragm wasn't in the greatest shape either so I got a new one.

Once I got the carb put back together and mounted, I layed her over on the left side and took the side cover off. I didn't disturb the clutch cover, left it in place. I was able to clean all of the corrosive build-up that was in the water pump passages and bearing bosses. It looks like the previous owner ran hard water in it or something. The white chalky buildup was in the pump housing passages and head too, not too bad though. It cleaned up okay.
Installed the new bearing, seals (put some RTV on the one with the light corrosion), impeller shaft, and put on the side cover with new gasket and torqued the bolts down to 7.2 ft. lbs. Torqued the impeller to 10 ft. lbs and damn does that feel nice and tight!
As a bonus, I didn't have to drain the high-dollar synthetic oil I just put in it that had 3 minutes of run time on it!

I buttoned her all back up, put the tank, seat and plastics back on and decided to put gas to the carb and see if it would fire. She fired up on the 4th kick. I let her run for 2-3 seconds then shut her down cuz I haven't put coolant in it yet. (I like to let RTV set-up for 24 hours first.)
Happy with that I loaded her into the truck with the cooler, gear bag, helmet, etc, went to go pull the truck in the garage and puked the battery. Blammo, done, dead, just like that, Arizona style.

So I quick run to Walmart and get a battery, (its dark now), get back home and I grabbed the wrong one. It was way too tall and it hit the hood and it wouldn't close. (I wanted the 810 CCA's, just forgot about height).
Not wanting to leave the bike just sitting in the back of the truck unattended, I unload it all, go back to Walmart, and exchanged it for a 750 CCA, and it fits nice nice.
Reloaded all of it back up, pulled it into the garage, showered, ate, and now It's 10pm, a full 12 hours later than I started.
I'm pooped.
But I'm going to the track tomorrow
Hopefully the bike runs well and I will be back here tomorrow uninjured, wish me luck.

Ok ya got me beat. Tore mine apart back in july and just got it back together yesterday. Took my time cause I ain't riding in 100° anyway. New wheel bearings 1 valve shim new header and muffler. Don't remember what it sounded like before but it sounds awesm now! My rigged up pipe "sleeve" RTV cooked a little but I think once it gets a nice crisp it will hold. Got you beat on the heat though hurricane cooled things off nicely, but can't find gas for shit. Every station without a line around the block has bagged up pumps. Want to ride but all I got is vP and the truck ain't getting it! Made some ECU maps for the pipe I may just yesg em out in the field by my house.

Good luck , be safe ! Sunday is my day to take the 9 yr. Grandson to the track for his first track and trail ride . Hope he likes it better than the driveway and around the golf course route . The other day he yelled , hey poppy , i want to ride this , my crf150f he was sitting on it looking at me with THAT smile. , mabey next year .........

So you've lived with it for a while what do you think about the box in front? I love it. Concern only for the reduced air filter surface area, but cleaned each ride should be ok. I don't really ride in super dusty but I bet some of you HS guys would cake one up in a day
to itterate further, I just cleaned mine after a 87 mile off road race, it is no worse than the way the one in the kawi would come out.

I cleaned the airfilters of both the yz and wr, adjusted the chain on the yz (gonna need to replace soon) corrected the pinched wire for my hour meter. On the wr I also adjusted the steering stem tightness.
 
I just oiled and replaced mine also, I sure like the placement. in reading the mxa reviews they say crap like "every Harvard grad should have to remove this headpipe in 15 min or less before receiving their degree" I don't understand what they are about I have no trouble at all. Easiest four stroke I've ever worked on.
 
Yeah well after working on a ton of local bikes I can assure you that it would pose a challenge to those who don't know the difference between sae and metric sockets
