What did you do to your bike today?

I took my scoot's cylinder to work and checked the bore. It’s still within spec. :thumb:
I had a hell of a time getting the head bolts loose. Had to take to Timo’s place and use his 3/4 drive impact. That only got two off. It took a breaker bar with a 4 foot cheater bar and Timo on the end of it with the bike tied down in my truck.

Since the cylinder is good, I’m just going to put a new piston and rings in. But, Holy Crap! :jawdrop: I just priced the parts, and a piston kit and gaskets is $321 at RMATV. That’s a lot more than I was expecting. Furkin’ KTM :foul:
I will say, though, that it’s holding up a lot better than my last red bike.
Um, it is a 4 stroke buddy. But that really isn't that bad. Did you check the cam chain? Might add that to the joy.

I'm going to replace the cam chain as well.
Just to compare, I looked up the same parts for a similar Honda. They cost around $215. That's more like what I was expecting.

I miss working in a machine shop a little bit. Don’t miss the tooling oil, shavings or the smell of a propane forklift, but I dig watching the CNC lathe do its thing and punching holes in steel with a 30 ton press. Turn an entire book of matches into powder with one of those things :naughty:

Carb cleanin' on the 85, that ethynol crap the hippies sell us sure clogs up jets and float bowls! I think star-tron sells some clean it up fluid. Pb-blaster is the shite! It clean the funk outta spark plugs! so ill be cleaning some of em' too!

Yeah, I hated the hot chips. They would burn down deep into the flesh. And no matter how much you cleaned up at work, you still would find them at home. That’s why I gravitated to surface grinding. It was cleaner and I liked the closer tolerances.
What a dumbass I was! The mills and lathes are all CNC nowadays and all the guys have to do is close the door and push the button. I’m still cranking handles. :bonk:

Hells to the yeah bro! Me and some old timers would love to see an 89-90 yz-350 or 325 classic, I know it ain't your bag, but, it would rock, since you do have some awesome resto' skills! Imagine a stock looking 89 with a large bore farting round' a race track, smoking modern bikes, ah well, its good to dream! Btw, the 89-90 are my favorite Yama zingers of all time, along with the mighty yzm-500!:cheers:037-244x150.jpg

325 kit goes on the modern 99-19 YZ250 bottom end.
