I raced dirt track with a sb Chevy 305 in a 72 Nova, set a track record one weekend, and I had a lot of success with that motor, it was modified a little, so was everything else.I think it is funny that you say that. chevy made their 302 it was considered a very good engine also. The chevy 305-307 is the worst engine Chevy made. the ford 302 responds very well when you add upgrades to it.

I had a 307 for about 2 months. I put a 350 in it after that. Burned a quart every 250 milesI think it is funny that you say that. chevy made their 302 it was considered a very good engine also. I wish I had taken pictures of the chain slop. Before I removed the old set. I think your jaw would drop.I believe shes roached. What set did you put back in it?
Nice, i got the SA gear billet gears, double roller, with the 9 keyway bottom hear.I installed the COMP CAMS Double Roller gear set. I set the cam at 2* advance when I put them on.
I did not have enough to buy them. Plus I would've had to order them. I could not wait that long.Nice, i got the SA gear billet gears, double roller, with the 9 keyway bottom hear.
It revved quicker than anyone else's motor out there, this was a 3/8 mile oval, short straights, most everybody else was shutting down for the corner while they were still accelerating, my car hit it's top potential right before the corner, perfect. The 305 will rev to the moon and back. the trouble was it just takes a while to get it there. I have never seen an engine rev farther than a Chevy 305.

Cam had same lift, longer duration, pistons were 10:5 -1, but even so, mine was built more lightly than every body else, with their 11:1 pistons and monster cams, on their 350 and 400's. When I didn't crash, or catch on fire, I blew those guys away, it's true, I know, I was there. Not stock... No way.
Mine was fasterThere is zero difference in a 350 and a 305 besides piston size and sometimes heads. The 305's have heavy pistons though. They chug.
There for taking longer to get to peak Hp. That is if the engine is stock and Steve yours was not stock. I was referring to stock 305cu.There is zero difference in a 350 and a 305 besides piston size and sometimes heads. The 305's have heavy pistons though. They chug.
