What do you think of this bike for sale?

Check this out, y'all know how I love a good basket-case.
Looks like it has 4 corner seizing, and the top of the piston is clean as can be.
Wasn't Mike just saying how RM's were superior machines?
And I am gonna be up there next Thursday, hmmm...

I'm the superior machine.....
it's a 4-500 basket case. Needs complete bottom end rebuild I bet. More than likely he didn't check his ring end gap and piston clearance. I also don't see a manual.

I offered him $300.00, and he declined. We'll see if he still has it when me and the boy head up that way to go skiing next week.

Hey I'm going to look at this bike tomorrow;

Any thoughts on this?
Clean title, and he's indicated that he would take less than his 300 asking price, but it's only been posted today and he said he's had 5-6 calls on it already, however; he says he'll meet me at 1:30 tomorrow after church, so I think I have 1st dibs on it.

I've been wanting a bike with a light, something I can ride to work; and since I love my 200, and I sold Zach's 100 and he now rides my 200...
Dude claims it needs a new engine and that cylinder and head are messed up, probably cams too.
I gotta wonder if my 200 engine would bolt in, it's the same year...

If any of you senior members are viewing and care to chime in before I leave my place at noon mountain time Sunday, that would be sweet.

I don't know.. I acquired an xr 250r with a broken cam that trashed the head and after sourcing the necessary parts I was in way over 1k and that was just the stuff I knew about. Of course it was an '84 so parts availability may have been some of the problem there. Your call dude.

As far as that bike goes, we had one and really is a good bike as are most of the xr's. My state allows under 250cc pilots on the roads at 15yrs so I bought one for my son to ride to school. Dad had tons of fun on it too! Soon as he turned 16 the displacement restriction gets lifted and he started "borrowing" my 650 so i wound up selling it. Here's my example of this loveable little scooter

I went and looked at it. The bike was out in the back yard rotting away. Had 1450 miles on it, but the shock shaft was pitted, seat was deteriorating, tires junk, clutch and throttle perches missing, broken turn signals, mirrors missing, bent handles, shoddy wiring, missing the key tumbler, etc.

So I asked where the engine was and we went into the garage to look at it. It turned over easy and the cylinder and piston looked okay, but there was no carb, head, cam, cam cover or kickstart lever. I asked where these items were and he said they we're down at a friends house and that he wasn't home so they couldn't get them.
I offered him $100.00, which he declined. I then asked him what he thought he needed to get out of it and he said $250.00.
I said I would come up to $150.00, but he declined so we left.
Someone will give him $250 for it, just not me.

Just to give y'all an idea of how people here in AZ think their bikes are worth so much more than they are, below is a week old CL ad for the same bike as my 95 XR200, that I overpaid for at $700.00;

People here are nuts. I think the heat makes them crazy.
In hind sight, dude took down his ad for the XR250L last night because he said he got so many calls on it, so I am thinking I should have offered him 200 for it, then turned it around and sold it for more.
