Other 1993 Yamaha WR500 Teardown/Overhaul

This thing will look sweet when finished. I have not looked at your list of parts, but I am assuming that you have a new rear shock flap on the list? That one you have there is a little hammered.

I figured you were going to offer to throw a leg over it when he is done :noidea:

Oh, and when you do - be sure to do a write up on it! :prof:

This stupid tank.... Whoever originally painted it should be plagued with the armpit lice of 1000 camels...
I have put probably 4 hours of constant sanding with 60, then 120, then 220, and now with red scotchbrite. Still another 4 hours left before I'll be happy with it. I think it's going to go bright white.

Here's how it looked when I bought it. The tank is the only plastic piece that is still with this bike. The rest were ruined and easily replaced.

Here is how it looked after 2.5 years of riding and pressure washing.

And some sanding dry.

Wet sanding starts to really clean it up.

Drop the grit!

I have to put in a few more hours or sanding and scotchbriteing.

Installed the brand new white rear fender. Wire brushed my bolt heads in the vice for that shiny POP!

This pipe has been quite the arm workout. Another item that would be easier to replace, but let's not just replace everything...:naughty:

Parts wash and wore brush.

CLR it!

Starting to look decent!

Sweet work Big D, how about some 600 grit wet sand on the tank. That will knock it down and shine it up, looking good. Oh, and my YZ frame is with the Master of IPC for a new coat of blue goodness. I would like to do maidens together when both bikes are on rubber.
