250 I am a YZ Whore-der

Damned if this thing is not a screw in the pooch! Roughest bike I have seen.

Missing case bolts! Not good! :bonk: He had one of his buddies pull the motor and brought it to a shop to split. Nice shop or nice buddy, lost in the shuffle per our texting.

Ready to split that sucker..

Now that's a "liberal" amount of RTV use right there!:devil:

Top ring.

Bottom ring.
Looks like rings are needed. That's as gappy as a hillbilly by the name of Jaxi409! :P

Last night was an easy night. Had to get two new tires for my truck and didn't feel like bike wrenching much. Couple hours is all. So, I rebuilt 2 carburators. 1/125 and 1/250.
First up, 2000, YZ 125:

@SRAD97750 no blue paper towels were fragmented and/or used inside the bowel of these carbs! :smirk:

But did you cover your air filter with a bag:prof:

:smirk:

Why is it not going into 4-5? Well, if you buy a magnetic drain plug, and don't run the required thick washer, or maybe even any washer. The drain plug is so long with the magnet it?

Now that's not good!

So, a shift drum turns about 7/8 rotation (340-350 deg?)when going up through the gears. It can only turn if there is no "stopper" in its way.

George Thorogood wrote a song about that.

Awesome find! -BIG DAN:thumb:

Would have been even better find if I didn't split the case. Was still a pretty notchy when manually turning the whole gear box and simulating the shifting. I think one of, (if not two or all three) shift forks are a little worked from the owner trying to kick it up into 4-5 gear. I might spend the 180 on forks, and 25+ on C clips for the gears shafts for good measure. Also, might go down to George's shop and dig around for the WR trans he said he has over there, (pointing to a heap of bike parts in a pile).

Now watch that rag boy

wish you could rebuild my cr carb! :)

I think the new owner of this one is going to like it as much as the last couple I sold, I still get reports as to how happy the guy in LA is about the way it looks and runs. The guy in San Diego I called should have been notarized and he said he sold it because, "it was way to much bike for him". So, I guess the new owner was able to, or hasn't tried yet to register it in his name. Left my number if he had any troubles.
As of now, I am waiting for the gal in CO to send me back the loss of title paperwork for her 125 I have. Don't think I will get that far in CA with a bill of sale. If that doesn't work, I am going to try AZ ADOT.
Tomorrow I will be at AAA registering the other three in my name. The 02 with tranny problem might be a little sticky as the guy filled out the pink, never registered it, and gave me a bill of sale. Oh ya, it has an 18" on the rear.... :thumb:
