There was more heat penetration than you think, and what sucks is I was using the high heat setting. It was only a 120v 20a welder. I also found out the type of welding I was doing was MIG, and its flux core welding line
 
No BS Brian, we're not criticizing your work. If these were bed patches we wouldn't care, but those welds don't look strong enough to hold a cab onto a frame for years to come. Sometimes you have to be a poosea and let a professional do work for you :(
