What did you do to your car/truck today?

Actually I meant that when I have used AC Delco (and not just plugs) that the job comes back more often than I'm comfortable with, the porcelein of the plugs seem to have more problems cracking due too heat than other brands. And their other products, most notably battery's and alternators seem more prone to failure than what seems reasonable, this is based mostly on 30 years of experience as an auto mechanic, that being said I know other mechanics that swear by AC Delco, like you said take it or leave it.

AC Delco plugs on a GM :prof:

Should be ok, with the tires.

Ok, So I changed the plugs in my truck. You were right Kyle, they were AC Delco 41-110. I was very impressed with the condition they were in. They do not look to the lower priced plugs. :noidea: In my opinion they look to be running hot. I will post pictures of them later. I noticed 3 of the plugs did seem to be only finger tight. I was able to loosen them without having to hold the extension. They came loose just by me gripping onto the ratchet. They looked as if the spent gas was blowing by. I'm thinking I may have been loosing a little power.
As far as the Denso's go, well so far I noticed it idles better and has a smoother take off. This could all be from loose plugs maybe. The real test will be my fuel mileage. Thanks

Good to hear. Get some custom tunes and let'er talk :drool:

Is it best to buy and do myself? Or take someplace else? There are so many different ones available. How do you know which one makes the best power and millage?

It depends on what you are wanting....If you are just wanting some cheap power, You can just buy a programmer. Once you get it you can answer a few questions on the tuner. And it will give you a decent tune.(Called canned tune)

Later on you can get a custom tune (Through email) and their tunes will be ever better than the canned tune.

I just run canned tunes and they are good enough for me. But the custom tunes are 10times better. Its like night any day how the truck shifts and runs.

ROund 1... OK, it was yesterday... on my way home, 30 mile commute and about 3 miles into it... I'm slowing down for a red light and I hear ding ding ding over the music then I see the check engine light come on then the warning across the dash that reads.;.. "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". I don't notice it since I am slwoing down so I pull into a near by 7-11 when i notice the "rumble". I park... make a few calls and decide to try to make it to the local Chevy dealer since that's the only place I know of... once i get out on the road I find that the reduced power lets me go only about 10-15 MPH... so I'm rolling up a non-congested road however coming up to a very busy intersection... all the time crossing my fingers please make it. Now, the closer I get to the intersection I'm dreading getting on the busy street, once I get almost to the corner there's a driveway, I'm thinking great, a parking lot for me to stop and call a tow truck... so I pull in and it's a Firestone store... Woo Hoo... 1) I don't have to drive it 3 more miles to Chevy.. they'd have been closed by the time I got there :lol: and 2) it'll cost less. :thumb:

Round 2... they sign me in, say they can't do anything until today, no problem, I expecteed that... they called enterprise to coem pick me up, they do, we get all the way to the "E" office when they tell me, ":Dan called" ... said they looked at my truck and said the repairs can only be done by a Chevy dealer... something to do with a throttle body senser upgrade... etc. so back I go to the Firestone store. :thumbsdown:

Round 3... I get there, ask if they have a tow service, No sir we don't but I can call one for you but they're a ways out... instead I called Chevy and asked if they had a towe service.. Yes sir we do... got the number, picked me up, dropped me and the truck off, arranged ti with Enterprise to pick me up, etc. etc. etc... Done :thumb:

Today I am driving a hot little number... a Chevy Cruz. Not a bad little car if you're looking for small-mid size... sounds like a sewing machine though when I get on the gas... :cool:

OK, before ya'll go thru this and find the errors, I editted one thing I found but missed the others and now I can't edit the rest...

coem = come
slwoing = slowing
":Dan" = DAN
towe = tow
ti = it

I think I got em all.. if not... I'm sure you'll figure it out. :prof:

Did you ever shut off car and restart? Was the problem still there? I've seen several Chevys with this problem most of them had a p1516 code, anyways the reason it loses power is because the computer sends it into "limp mode" because it sees a glitch in throttle position sensors and can't decide what the driver is doing with the gas pedal, (as the throttle is fly by wire) anyways the theory is better safe than sorry and they program computer to give just enough juice to make it home or to the end of a hook. Good luck with that, this is one of Chevys treat innovations.
