What did you do to your car/truck today?

Did you ever shut off car and restart? Was the problem still there? I've seen several Chevys with this problem most of them had a p1516 code, anyways the reason it loses power is because the computer sends it into "limp mode" because it sees a glitch in throttle position sensors and can't decide what the driver is doing with the gas pedal, (as the throttle is fly by wire) anyways the theory is better safe than sorry and they program computer to give just enough juice to make it home or to the end of a hook. Good luck with that, this is one of Chevys treat innovations.

It was definately in LIMP MODE... I did shut it off once at the first place, restarted it and it did the same thing... after sitting for a while I started it to line it up with the flatbed it had toime to cool off and it sounded fine but I only idled my way over to the truck... The check engine light and warning still showed up.

Bad throttle pedal assembly or a broken wire at the throttle body is usually the cause with the trucks I work on.
The wire at the throttle body will often break inside the sheath, you'll need to get it warm and then crawl up there and gently pull each wire like you were trying to pull it apart.

We'll good, if the problem is there all the time it will be easy to diagnose. If the computer sees the problem for more than 1 second it will send it into limp mode, and if the problem is intermittent when you cycle the key it runs normal, makes it hard to determine what's up when it does that.by he way, I suggest you find a good indepentant shop to go too if you are out of warranty, most dealership I've dealt with(including 1 I worked at) don't have customer service at the top of their list, if you do have one you trust then great.

I've heard of that, but havn't seen that, every one I've done has been a throttle body, from what I've seen on IATN or identifix it's usually about 2 to 4 inches from the connector where it breaks right?

2"-4" is the norm, but I've also seen them break right at the plug, GM sells the plug.
The only people/company I do repairs for outside of my own vehicles is U-Haul, mainly because they treat their contractors with the respect they deserve.

Of the ones I've done, a vast majority of the time its a broken wire, the other times its been the pedal assembly. I only had one that was a throttle body, and don't ask me how it worked because I couldn't tell you, but the tb off a smaller engine, 6.0, will bolt to the 8.1, however there is a difference in that the 6.0 uses a vac controlled high idle circut and theres a nipple on the TB for this. I had a truck (C6500 with a 8.1) that had a 6.0 TB bolted to it about 5 months prior in Denver CO, it ran for 1500 miles and made its way to my neck of the woods before the computer caught on and it started acting up.... how? I have no idea....

What year is that vac nipple used on the 6.0 tb? I don't remember seeing that before. Good info though , thanks

I have a reputable independant shop I usually deal with however he was 30+ miles away and soon to close by the time I got all my shizzle together... so my option was to tow it to the local Chevy dealer. I try and gage their cutsomer service by how they act to someone standing "alone" as I was... Unbeknownst to them I had been served but every individual that walked by asked if I'd been helped. Proof will be in the pudding today on if and when I get "the call".

Drove it, found an old grocery store that's been abandoned for a long time, the surrounding community, consists of about 100 people max, there was a cross on the door as well as lots of flowers laid there, I wonder what happened here.

Had to have the throttle body replaced... runs like a champ now... back to the normal daily grind!

Carry on!
That is all...

PCV, Airfilter, pcv filter, dumped in another quart of Chevron 5w30, filled it with gas, calculated average mpg for the past tank, 17.2 way to go old Ford :hifive:
Holy shit, we're you coasting downhill with a tail wind and your ex girlfriend chasing ya? my ford has never got even close to that before.

I don't know the exact ratio but my truck has got some really tall gears in it, running around town in it sucks, but its right at home running interstate.
